Goal
The goal of this course is to present:
• The steps of a Retie Appointment
• A system of performing the Retie Appointment in a standardized, consistent, and efficient manner
• A system of the Retie Appointment that can be performed by all clinical team members to deliver better patient care
Objectives
At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to:
• List and describe the procedures to complete before the patient arrives for the Retie Appointment
• List the materials and instruments that are needed for a Retie Appointment
• Describe the process of seating the patient
• Describe assessment of the patient’s status and procedures to improve patient compliance
• Describe the factors to evaluate for proper wire engagement
• Demonstrate the removal of the arch wires
• Report patient status to the doctor and receive instructions
• Demonstrate techniques for placement and engage a wire to achieve the desired tooth movement
• Make proper notations on the patient’s Treatment Record
• Release the patient properly communicating patient instructions with the parent and Scheduling Coordinator
• Prepare the clinic unit for the next patient
